Sonamthang Central School is very much delighted to get the first official audience from Chief Education officer (CDEO) on 7th July 2022 after taking her office in Zhemgang Education Office. The CDEO was received by the Prinicpal, teachers, and students in the Multipurpose Hall. The program unfolded with a traditional Marchang ceremony and offering of a scarf-Tashi Khadar to CDEO by Vice Principals and staff.
The Principal presented a brief school profile and academic achievements of the past few years since the establishment of the school. He also presented some of the best practices in the school and challenges that require genuine and immediate attention from the education office.
The CDEO addressed the students gathered in the hall that the very purpose of being in the school is not only to read and write but also to be a responsible citizen. She also emphasized the importance of STEM subjects and having strong emotional resilience. The CDEO words of wisdom have beckoned and ignited the light of hopes of students to strive towards excellence.
Towards the next hour of the visit, a meeting was held with the teaching faculties in the ICT lab where she elucidates on Educational Reforms and the way forward(i.e., Bhutan Baccalaureate). After that, she visited the classroom and talked with the students about the importance of reading and being in the school. She also promised students that she will make frequent visits to the school and work together in uplifting the academic performance of the school.
The CDEO’s official tour ended with a group photo to capture the memories and the simple lunch.
